MOTIONAL LITERACY

Motional Literacy group session at ARD’s 2025 Gala.

what is motional literacy?

Motional Literacy is ARD's unique movement and wellness workshop that supports personal and professional development. Our approach teaches vulnerability and implements empowerment techniques that allow people of all ages and experiences to express themselves through movement, whether at work or in your daily routine.

Workshops take participants through an active movement-based meditation structured around Motional Literacy program tenets. By engaging in a series of creative movement exercises individually and in groups, this workshop offers techniques to help work through stressors, physical pain, and emotional dysregulation. Participants will walk away from this workshop with tools to help them embody vulnerability in a way that works for them and their personal and professional environment.

Motional Literacy has built a new community of movers who aren't professional dancers and who appreciate having a safe space to express themselves through movement, organize the body and mind, and discover the emotional benefits of dance.

“This workshop was excellent. It went beyond just getting people to move around – it included lessons on working together and building trust with your teammates. I would give this 6 stars out of 5.
