Core Values

We are always reflecting, relearning, and re-evaluating. We defined a set of values not to serve as hard guidelines, but to allow us to continue to expand our thinking and practice, both internally and externally. These values are living and breathing and will shift as we figure out how we show up for each other as a company and as artists in this ever-changing world.

These values will both move us and move with us.

HONOR VULNERABILITY

• Cultivate a welcoming creative space that inspires every person to bring their full self 

• Share individual experiences, stories, and ideas in an effort to identify and uplift universal experience

• Expect transparency, listen wholeheartedly, and receive gracefully

ACTIVELY PRACTICE COLLABORATION

• Engage with artists and ideas that challenge us creatively and intellectually 

• Create space for work that defies genre 

• Expand outside of familiar networks thoughtfully, recognizing that impact can be different than intent

• Address and nurture our need for growth in and outside of the rehearsal studio

Dancers, staff, and board members pledge to live these values, and expect our audiences, partners, supporters, and ARD community members to also uphold these values at our performances, workshops, and gatherings.
